Where Nature, Somatics, and Craft  Come Together

About

Guided forest experiences, sound healing, herbal offerings, and natural health rooted in integrity.

Feral Roots Conservatory is a place where wildness, wisdom and wellness meet.

No big sign at the bottom of our stairwell because we’re a by-appointment-only sanctuary rather than a retail storefront. This keeps the energy a little more intentional.

Feral Roots is a service-based wellness apothecary rooted in this beautiful bio-region of Virginia.

Here, Nature is not a backdrop, it's a partner.

Your body is not a problem, it's a compass.

Healing is not a performance, it's a return.

Our offerings are grounded , neutral, and trauma-informed.

No dogma. No spiritual pressure. No gatekeeping.

Just honest, earth-centered practices that help you reconnect with yourself and the living world.

About Rachel

Ritual Ecologist ~ Forest Therapy Guide ~ Sound Therapy Instructor~ Somatic Practitioner ~ Licensed Massage Therapist

Hi, I am Rachel, the heart and hands behind Feral Roots. I am a ritual ecologist, somatic practitioner and licensed massage therapist working at the intersection of mind, body, and nature. I work as a massage therapist, aromatherapist/herbalist, but it goes deeper than that — I’m also a sound healer, ritual ecologist, forest therapy guide, naturalist, and artist (you’ll find my acrylics on canvas around the space sometimes). I grow and propagate a wild mix of herbs, tea plants, and medicinals hydroponically right upstairs in the sanctuary, plus I tend a home biodynamic apothecary garden and polenator sancuary full of natives and even a few non-natives that have their own wisdom to share — sweet gum, oak, purple passionflower, sages, and whatever else the land offers up.

A lot of what I harvest gets turned into small-batch products for the services I offer and for the online shop at Feral Roots Apothecary — think plant-infused oils, ritual blends, candles I make by hand, and other earthy treasures. Everything is slow, seasonal, and deeply connected to the plants and the land here.

I offer relationship -- with the land, with your senses, with your emotional architecture, with what is waiting to be heard.

My practice is built from:

  • a career in professional massage therapy and therapeutic bodywork.

  • biodynamic practices and working with plants

  • forest therapy training

  • ecological psychology

  • animist philosophy

  • somatic literacy

  • trauma-aware and embodied sound healing

  • mythic studies

  • lived experience in the field

  • years of personal practice

I founded Feral Roots Conservatory and Ritual Sound Healing School as a place where people can return to themselves without performance, bypassing, or spiritual aesthetics.

This is a grounded, honest, ecological approach to healing and presence.

Mission

To restore and reconnect the innate relationship between humans and the living world through structured, somatic, and ecologically grounded nature and mind/body experiences. We cultivate grounded, accessible, and trauma-informed experiences from forest therapy to sound healing, herbalism, and non-touch somatic work- that help individuals return to their bodies, their senses, and over all wellness. Our practices aim to honor both scientific understanding and intuitive connection.

Our mission is to create a neutral, inclusive, and ethically held space where learning enhances presence, structure supports safety, and nature becomes a partner in healing.

Rooted in the symbolism of oak, sun and soil, Feral Roots Conservatory is a place where wildness, wisdom, and honest natural health practices come together to support personal and collective well-being.

Vision

To cultivate a space where wildness and wisdom meet. Where people slow down, breathe, and rediscover their wholeness. Feral Roots Conservatory grows a lineage of grounded, sensory-rich practices that honor the land, support the nervous system, and nurture a deeper, more reciprocal relationship with the earth. We create accessible, ethical pathways for people to reconnect with nature, themselves, and their communities.
